'86 GT. 2.8V6 Auto.

So, I installed a new TV cable, as mine was worn and shift points were eh. Sketchy.

Didn't work, searched for adjustment - Adjusted (But it stuck out like... 2.5 inches?!)

Test trial'ed it by going around the block, felt boggy.. so adjusted inward, still boggy, finally gave up and put the old one back on.

Uuuuunfortunately - I had retracted it about 2-3 notches, I can't remember how many exactly, I put it back on and hoped for the best.
Still boggy.. In neutral the engine revs up just fine. But in drive... It bogs out, when you let off the gas at certain points it feels like it wants to kick the bucket.

Did I just F my trans?

I did one other thing today - I replaced my coil connector.
The pink wire was a little thicker than the original.. But it starts up just fine.

My TV Cable is WAY out of wack, and I don't know if it's salvagable anymore.

I have a new one but when I go to WOT with it, it sticks out 2 inches or so. And the car still doesn't shift right.

I've had issues with the trans shifting, thumping, banging into gear.

The governor controls upshifts, the TV cable triggers downshifts, such as when passing someone and stepping on the gas.....

Somewhere along the way - Replacing the TV Cable screwed this thing up.

Did factory adjustments on both cables (Old and new), neither work. Each time I adjust it in, or out, ect..
Same result, won't shift like it's actually supposed to.

It's had shifting problems before.. just slamming into gear.. ext

The TV cable adjusts a control pressure, based on, obviously, how open the throttle valve is. The governor pressure is based on transmission speed. The control pressure fights against the governor pressure in the shift valves, along with a calibrated spring, to determine shift points in a non-electronic transmission.

If it was shifting oddly before... it may be a bigger issue than just the TV cable. What did the fluid look like?

It was red still pink. Not burnt.

It feels like its going through all the gears quickly, at times I lose torque to the wheels now.

Been trying to adjust it every which way...

Get yourself a 4-speed auto from Robertson's Salvage and call it a day.

http://robertsonautosalvage.com/

This is exclusively where I get my used motors from...and they can deliver.
