This is actually for my Trans Am, but the column is pretty much the same. How the hell do you remove this!? I searched for a while and none of the column write ups cover that step, and the 1 forum post I came across said it just pulls out with a lot of effort. Let me tell you, I put all my weight on it to pull it out and can't get it to budge. Any suggestions? I need it off cause some moron removed the cover that goes around it before I bought the car, now I got the cover from the JY and the hole for the stalk is too small to slide through.

It just unscrews. Don't pull it or you may damage the threads.

Well I tried with some beefy pliers and a paper towel wrapped around it a few times. Ended up marring the lever and it didn't budge, I guess they decided to epoxy mine in or something. Thanks gents.

They're usually loctited in. Sometimes there are a couple flats on the threaded end for a wrench. If you tear yours up too bad let me know, i probably have a couple laying around and I could send you one.

Yes it does just unscrew. So the only answer is to mangle it up worse and remove it, then buy a new one.
