Emergency brake works properly now, but look at that gap between the moving part and the stop. It's the same on both sides. Is that ok?

Had this on mine, check if the parking brake cable is keeping it from moving back. My cable was not sliding freely when the brake was released.

Missed the part where you said both sides.....may need to check the parking brake adjuster, that it isn't over tightend....
