The radiator shop that's cleaning my tank's interior just advised that a PLASTIC BAFFLE IS CRACKED. The caller said it "MIGHT" be a problem, but recommended going forward with a $145 cleaning job.

I have not seen the crack, and it's an hour round trip.

Do you have any experience with this, and an opinion?

THANKS

Helps if I read the title .There is nothing to worry about if the gas tank baffle is cracked .It will still stop gas from sloshing around .And did you take a peak inside the tank to see what he is cleaning out for your 145.00 ? Chances are pretty good that unless the car has been sitting out in a field for 10 years , the tank will already be clean .I had my tank off for the first time in 7 years last summer and it was spotless inside .

This '88 sat in the sun, next to a garage, for more than 10 years. It was full of animal nests and windblown junk - in horrible condition. But it had 40k miles on it, so seemed to be worth resurrecting. I pulled the tank because (1) fuel pressure was about 30# and (2) the fuel gauge was inoperative. Both have been fixed. Inspecting the interior of that tank I found a load of crap - hence the cleanout.

THANKS for the input. I'll go forward with that tank -
