I've just installed a new fuel pump, and rebuilt the fuel sender using a robust 0-90 ohm potentiometer removed from this assembly on eBay: http://tinyurl.com/qxehzqn and $22 shipped! I'll be glad to send photos to anyone that is interested, but can't seem to post here...

The metal fuel lines enter the tank through the cap. It appears that there is slight play in two of those tubes. Should they be welded? Sealed with JB or silicone?

ALSO, on the inside of the cap there's a check valve plus brass ball, in a cage. Is that a rollover fire preventer? It is pretty flaky after 26 years. Should I do anything about it?
