II finally got my sons 86 GT with the 3 speed automatic on the road. Everything has been fine for about a week. Unfortunately, I noticed a slip on the way home, so I checked the transmission fluid. Sure enough it was low. Upon returning from the auto parts store with fluid, I notice a wet spot on the pavement that was not there before. It's apparent he has a leak. It's dark, so I haven't jacked it up for inspection, but where besides axle seals, can the transmission leak from? I'm just trying to get a heads up before I get up under there, which may be a week or so. BTW, fluid was a nice red color before we ran it, so there wasn't old fluid in there. Please God, tell me I do not have to drop the cradle again.

Cooling lines, front pump seal, or pan. If your lucky it's not the convertor seal. That would require a transaxle split.

Thanks, I thank I can handle all of those except the last one. Well, I can handle that one also, I just don't want to.

It's the pan. Phew! It's one of those things I should have replaced while the cradle was out of the car, but I honestly just overlooked, and didn't even consider it. My fault, but at least it's not that bad of a job with it still in the car. I may just go ahead and replace the hoses while I'm at it.

Well I also had a hose clamp loose, but it is tightened down now. I imagine I forgot to tighten it when we put the motor back in.

Good! Just a heads up... Mine started slipping on my way to high school a while back, was running late and didn't stop... Toasted my trans... The dipstick seal blew out and poured out all the fluid!! Anyway was just more motivation to do the swap
