I have an 87 2.5l auto. When i start the car the check engine light come on right away and goes into a low idle which is weird because they usually have a high idle when started. It will drive but only what seems like half the power. il do the paper clip in the A and B terminal and no codes will flash back even though the check engine light was one when running.

Welcome to the Forum!

Before tossing out your ECM, re-set it at the battery junction block. Re-connect after a minute or so.
