Has anyone used aluminum lug nuts? I would like to get a lug nut that is 50 mm long and am not finding what I want in steel. So what are your experiences with aluminum lug nuts? The lug nuts are Ultra High Strength Aluminum, but don't list a specific specification.

you try summit racing, gorilla lug nuts.. I'd not trust alum for lug nuts.. for long term use.. they are more forgiving for a race car that they'll get used once and then chucked
Many Porsche come from the factory with aluminum nuts,, some racing association allow aluminum nuts they are great for States that have a lot of dogsled, igloo favorable weather they are perfectly safe ,,my experience is that 90% of men fear them!! steel ? aluminum ?,no contest I do no like them if you change wheels a lot use a small amount of grease or never seize/ a problem with steel lug nuts ia mechanic hammer them home with an air wrench there are 50,000 steel lug nut failures for every aluminum lug nut failure you can not strip/break your studs using aluminum lug nuts the fact that Porsche used aluminum lug nuts tells you all you need to know 100 ft pound of torque scares me !! find out how tight you can torque them ?? Of course I favor any thing that lowers the weight the crankshaft has to turn, increasing performance & efficientcy
I had aluminum tuner lugs on my last Honda civic and they worked out just fine through all Canadian seasons. I recently removed them and they showed no signs of corrosion or wear. I was impressed for a $40 eBay purchase.
I would recommend looking at Muteki lug nuts. They're made in Japan and are a lightweight, high strength steel. I believe they would have the style you're looking for. I've had them on my car for about 2 years now and have not had any issues.

I don't know of any aluminum that is as strong as steel. Not to mention corrosion when steel and aluminum are in direct contact. jmho.
I had to cut out the hoods on my SuperBee that was regular steel, and the hood on my Magnum that was aluminum. The steel was a 30 min job with a jig saw. The aluminum one took 2 hours and required a jig saw, cut off wheel, sawzall and air chisel. I had to cut some steel wheels off a car that took all of 5 mins, and another I had to cut off 2 aluminum ones that took me an hour. So Ill go with some aluminums are tougher than steel. I will agree with 2 different metals. Ive had cars with aluminum wheels that corroded at the center hole and I had to beat them off with a sledge hammer after I took off the lugs.
Porsche has used aluminum lug nuts in the past, but they use a 14mm thread size, so they're bigger and stronger. I've never heard of any cars with 12mm studs and aluminum lug nuts, but some may be available in the aftermarket. Not a great idea.
