Ok so for the past two days when i get up for School in the morning, I try to start my car to warm it up. Its been below zero for the past two days in Ohio. The car kind of starts but then stalls. I try to crank it again and it wont start just cranks, as if the engine is flooded. I put it in clear flood mode and it will fire up but i have to hit the gas a bit for it to stay running. The rest of the day it starts fine.

Is this the TB freezing and its just having a hard time breaking free? All fluids are good and Battery is new as of last month. Alternator is new as of a year ago. Car is a 1984 Fiero SE Automatic 2.5L.

Thanks for the help.

Josh

A battery warmer or block heater is the answer. I use a battery heater in really cold weather and it solves allot.

Arn

I should explain that when it is really cold, your battery is not producing the same amperage and your electical system does not get a full shot. This affects things like your ecm and injector system. I hope this helps

Try a battery heater if you experience those temps often. They are cheap and easy to install. Block heaters are cheap and effective as well, but installing them in the stock location can be outrageously difficult on the 2.5. If your temps are often around 0 F I would recommend an oil pan heater (cheap/easy) especially if you don't switch to a winter oil, though this is more about prolonging engine life than addressing the issue you brought up.
