I got the EGR pipe changed out. I presume it was original with a corrugated cover and fiberglass internal heat shield. I cut the heat shield off and looked carefully the whole length of the pipe. I never did see a crack or other leak. The leak is certainly *very* small. It was to the point it idled at 2500 RPM when cold, though.

It now idles as low as 800 RPM when in gear and the engine is warm. I don't remember the idle ever being that low.

The system must work or the motor will not idle smooth. Mine was loping the other day , my pcv valve popped out, back to running smooth again. The car keeps me on my toes.
