My 86 gt all stock Has new spark plugs, wires, ignition coil, had oil changed, I can gun it to the floor and it wont squeel the tires a bit. It isnt slow but it is not as quick as it should be.. Any ideas? I know this is VERY broad.. But I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks God Bless

Plugged cat?
Any codes?
Air filter new?
Full throttle plate through on the TB?
Could be a number of things, do you have a scanner to check things out?

Are you sure? ... The 2.8L V6 is kind of a dog. It's rated at around 140-ish HP, but you're more realistically putting out at the very least 20 HP less than that, then top off age of the engine which diminishes HP figures. I can gun my GT with the 5 speed and it rarely chirp tires.

But yes you may want to check for intake and exhaust flow and make sure everything is working properly.

Although I think ultimately you're going to find out this is why so many people do drivetrain swaps.

Lots of variables. Tire size, tread, oil weight, you could check your engine compression, etc.

Thanks everyone. I forgot to mention. It has no cats, new air filter. So airflow is good. Maybe i could try to clean the throttle body or somwthing or just leave it as it is. I am selling it and am trying to get my gt back to perfect running condition but this might be just as close as it gets haha.
