How can I remove the rack for painting? I can see the nuts that hold the spoiler and the back of the runners on the deck, but how is the other end toward the front of the deck held down? Thanks.

If I recall correctly there is glue under there on the center bars.
Edit, I just checked. There are eleven holes under the luggage rack. Push in plastic bushings and double sided tape were holding mine on.

Remove the rubber inserts and you will find the screws that hold the other pieces in place.

Down the center of each rib on the top side is a rubber strip. That strip can be taken out by prying up on the end with a small flat screwdriver. Once you have it started you will see the grooves on each side that hold it in. Be careful as you pull it out, they are 26+ years old and you can rip the bottom part of the groove in the rubber off. Once you have all the center rubber strips out, you will find all of the screws that hold them to the decklid. Some people have said theirs had double sided tape on them, mine did not. Mine had a plastic gasket under each one but mine was an 84 so maybe that changed over the years.

I used a pistol grip hair dryer on these rubber inserts to make sure they were soft and flexible as I pulled them out. It helped.

Thanks to all. Glad I checked, some one told me the other ends were held on with double stick tape. I would have started prying on them and made a mess.
