When I start my car and put my headlights up, it seems that power (or something) is being diverted to the headlight motors. As a result, my (aftermarket Kenwood) radio turns off and then turns back on when the headlights are up and the motors turn off. Is there a way to stop this? I'm planning to install West Coast Fiero's center sub-woofer console which will require me to install an amp... would connecting my radio to the newly installed amp solve the problem? Thanks. (PS: new to the forum and you guys freaking rock! I love all these Fiero lovers together in one place. I'm just learning to love them myself!)

Thie is typical of aftermarket radio install
1= clean battery small negative wire where it attach to frame
& main ground,, this is must do for overall good running car ,make sure you have a
good connection here clean fender bright & make sure screw/bolt washer are shiney
pull the radio fuse, make sure it fits tight & fuse ends are bright & clean

2= place a ground wire from the radio to the metal frame , this is needed if not there.
check this closely if one was installed & is in place, bad solder joints are a source of noise
A BAD SOLDER JOINT SHOULD BE RESOLDERED,,the wires cleaned

3= clean the ground area of the Antena never done this on Fiero
not sure how it grounds on metal fender cars you clean/shine with the area right under the fender
a poor connection or bad ground causes your noise

now for the serious stuff not sure what type ground there is but one is needed on radio to frame
& antena
when you do your add on woofer,,you should add a RFI filter this will probably cure your problem
there should be an inline noise filter ,this hooks up to positive & negative ,this is for the young guys who are serious about there music,,none of this stuff is complicated & will give you the neck snaping ,head banging sound you need to damage your remaining brain cells
there should be a fuse close to the radio in the main 12 volt line
radio shack & radio sales shops & INSTALLERS should have the electronics you need !!
do 123 first, 2 most important for radio.
when the headlite motor brushes get close or down to the wire, nothing will silence them!!
do not use house wiring unless it is locked in place, hmm wonder how I know this

GOD ,GUTS ,GUNS & FIERO MADE AMERICA GREAT
