HI Guys...My mother gave me her 84 fiero when she turned 84..no kidding...and one of the problems is the tight headlight was disconnected and now I know why. I connected back up again and the mechcanism will raise and lower when switch is turned off/on but it spins continously. Any rhoughts on how to remendy?
Yes...That's it.. Word of caution to others that are working on the headlights...Always unplug negative cable on battery first.. When I repluged the wire back into the system, the headlight assembly came back down in flash and its a good thing Im quick because I could have hurt my hand. Thanks guys for the info.
You're very lucky you didn't hurt yourself, those motors are very powerful. Could mangle a hand up pretty badly. Definitely good advice to have the power disconnected before messing with anything in there!
The search button is my frenemy.... I've always been a bit 'Google challenged'. I really should just get my kids to help me, they always get better results than I do
You can disconnect the battery, but that wipes out memory in the ECM. An easier and faster way is to unplug the single wire with the weatherpack connector. It's located near the headlight motor relay on each motor. To protect yourself, if the headlight mechanism is up, be sure the headlight switch is in the ON position. If the headlight mechanism is down, be sure the headlight switch is in the OFF position. Verify this before connecting or disconnecting the connector.
You may get a good search return with BuddyCraig, but he uses 2 G's in his last name. BuddyCraigg
If you rebuild the motor yourself, be Very, Very careful when removing and replacing the limiter switch set. Turn the knob and make sure that the brush pads are sitting evenly on the metal parts of the commutator so that they don't catch in the grooves and break off. It would be a shame to have a freshly rebuilt motor that still won't run.

Very true. You never know what these things are going to do. I had one on my SE that would run all the time, but wouldn't move. I had disconnected the blue wire, but it still ran. I forget exactly what I was trying to do, but I think I plugged in the blue wire. The headlight did something it had never done - it went all the way up. I turned the light switch off and it did something else it had never done - it went all the way down.
The system has power all the time and uses a complicated set of relays to operate. It's difficult to say exactly what it will do even if everything is working right. Disconnecting the battery is good advice, but I've never done it myself. Just keep in mind how dangerous these things are and keep your hands and fingers out of the way.
