i have 4 questions i need help asap and dont know who can help me
1.how do you remove your 3800 balance shaft . i remove the gear but i need to put a bolt in the thread shaft and pull on the bolt ?????
2.how you install your dodge cam bearing without a cam bearings install kit ????
3.does it is possible to do this job safely without the tool ????
4.do you think i need to sand a litlle more on the block ????( call an engine shop and said to use a block of wood with a 80 sanding paper) i use 80 sand with a dewalt sanding machine and there not seem to be perfect straight specifically on the bottom of the middle cylinder on each head????? what do you think ??????

deck should be measured with a straightedge and feeler gauge or similar affair to see if it is true or not. I would not install the cam bearings without a bearing install tool. If you don't have one, take it to a shop that can do it for you properly. A dewalt sander is not a good idea. If you were going to use sandpaper, ideally you would have a piece of wood that was planed on one side and was long enough to span the entire side of the deck. As for the balance shaft, i removed mine, but I can't remember how i got it out at the moment without going out to the garage. I believe there was a bolt and collar holding it in. Once that was off, it should just pull out. Yes, if you can put a bolt or slidehammer in the threaded portion and give it a bit of a bump, it should come out...but why not just leave it in and just remove the gear so it can not turn? Then you do not have to contend with plugging the oil supply to the cam bearing at the rear of the engine.

as far as cam bearing I believe he is refering to using a 440 cam bearing to replace the rear of the balance shaft to seal the oil port. Not replacing the cam bearings in the 3800..
