Slowly wafting or forcefully coming out... newly rebuilt engines can have improper ring gap and/or rings that didn't seat. That tube is the fresh air supply for the engine... vacuum is applied to the PCV valve on the other side.

It wasn't forceful but it wasn't just sitting in there.
Like a bunch of Canadians trying to get somewhere fast. <---- Joke but that's what my friend said.

Does it happen right after you start up or after it gets warm?
After start up could be rings not seated properly or yet.
After getting to temp I consider normal from hot oil, that is what the PCV system is for.

How big is Shelbyville Indiana? You could walk down the block and take a look I suspect.

Shelbyville isn't a very big city but were bigger than that.

Also I have 4500 miles on the motor since it was rebuilt. I hope the rings wore in by now.
The car was completely warm after driving home from work.

I would imagine that cousins from 'the Simpsons' could get married in shelbyville, but why come all the way from Winnipeg to do so?

After running at normal temp for a while, (I have no idea how far the drive from work may be) a little crankcase smoke is normal. It is mainly made up of hydrocarbons which is drawn off the crankcase to be burned in the combustion process of normal engine operation. The operation under normal conditions of a functioning PVC valve sucks the air out of the crankcase, the fresh air supply for the air draw is provided through the tube from the air intake tubing just before the throttle body that goes to the front valve cover.

You got the black coupe?
