Unfortunate for me I have a very limited budget to contend with. That and with work slowing down, has pushed my dates back most likely till spring.
Most of the stuff is used. The 3800 Series 1 (I know, but what do you want for $200.00) had around 70,000 and is together. Pulled bottom end apart(with new bolts) to inspect, looks very good. Charger in good shape. The GM number confirms it is a 1993, but all Eaton charts show it is a Gen3?
It was cheaper for me to go with the pre ODBII PCM I got with the engine. I have a prom burner and have been practicing with a few tuner tools. Have the harness ready except for what I have to tie together in the car.
That limited me to a 4T60e. Keeping around the 3.33-3.29 differential range also limited things that I could afford. Any of the larger cars with a 4t60e in the pick and pulls were too toasty for me. So I had to end up with a Nbody 1995 5wfw broadcast code. I pulled it this past May and it was remaned for that wrecked car Jan. 2011. Painted sign off and dates behind the converter. On the road for 16 months or less. I had to find out the code the hard way. The code numbers were gone off the tag. I pulled things apart a few days ago. 3.29 reversed fine tooth diff. Not HD but the same one used in the 1995 G body SCs. The only difference being the teeth on the reluctor and I can deal with that in the programming.
The sun gear looks like the hardened replacement. How much problems were there after the sun gear update? Absolutely no debris(not even dust) in the pan.
Still have to get a Wbody left axle shaft. Left side is ready and have the right inner and outer joints.
I not doing A/C (no compressor anyway),but have put the alternator low rear side in case I want to later.
I'm going to use 4 point engine mounts instead of the dogbone. Have already fabricated the front engine mount, right trans nose mount and engine to trans nose brackets. Do the left, front and rear TH125 trans mount brackets work on the 4T60e? I will be fabricating my own rubber mounts. You will see later.
I have fabricated, using the manifolds and new parts a new crossover/Ypipe so I can run the exhaust in stock direction. Have the other parts in 2.5" ready. Mandrel bent. Using a glass pack where the cat is for now. May want to put one in later to use normal tags. Have to have engine in car before I can do a fit up. Still have to weld in a O2 bung and set up a flex or spring flange.
I have a Delco new SC suitable fuel pump ready. Have to make up lines.
I will be dealing with the throttle and trans cable brackets in the next few weeks.
Have already been over the brakes and suspension in the car. The only wear is about .015 in the upper ball joints. Passable, but I might do them anyway. Rebuilt all calipers. And rotors are less than a year old. Just have to get a better set of front pads. Currently Raysbestis. Stock brakes are working OK for me and I'm not going to race or autocross it.
The car is currently a daily driver. My daily drive to work is less than a 1/4 mile.
When I go to do the swap it will need to be as quick as possible. I live in the city without a garage. I have to get as much done out of car as possible.

Thanks to all for the help so far.

I will do pics when i have the cradle down and after I have the 2.8/TH125 off. The fabrication I have done will make much more sense when taken pics as I install the 3800/4T60E.

Yeah another thing I will have to deal with is the coolant outlets in the timing cover and lower intake. On the Series 1 SCs Gm used tubes bolted to the Alternator bracket rather than the elbows used in the Series II/IIIs. GM no longer carries them at dealers. So I will have to tap the intake and timing cover or find some other way to make tube with oring grooves. The one in the lower intake is a simple tap process and brass fitting. The timing cover outlet is recessed further in the cover than the Series II/IIIs.

I would advise not doing a swap on a car you rely on daily, it's really not something you should try to rush into a weekend or even a week.

I agree...you'd be better off getting a second cradle. You could get everything installed onto the second cradle and minimize the downtime.

I can walk to work if need be. That is one of the reasons I work there. I'm done with the commute hassles, not to mention fuel cost.
If I got on a bike and farted, I most likely would make it.
I'd love to have another cradle. Even if I had one just to use as a mock up would be a plus. The funds are that tight right now. Believe me this is going to be a poor mans swap.
The mounts I had been fabricating for the engine side are made where I can sit the assembly down on it, measure for the mounts, and drill.
I have gotten as thorough measurements I can off the car. Man those angles on the right rear of the cradle are odd. That is a hard substitute for having an extra cradle.
I have returned to the automotive field ,just over a year ago. Before I had been a mechanic from 1980-2001. Have already got my L1 engine performance ASE. This spring I intend on loading up on some more. Because of my previous certs, I was able to go for L1 rather than the basic test first. In 2001 I had 5 certs. The biggest change between then and now is throttle by wire.
At one time had engine performance, hvac, electrical, suspension, brakes and antilock. Along with Allen test products certs for Ford and GM DIS, CFI, SFI, CCC and antilock. Not to mention state emissions, when it was 3 gas. I go this Friday for state inspection.
Yeah, I'm familiar in what is involved.
Where I work, you can get fired if you don't have a receipt for a wheel weight. You have to have a legit ticket written up even if you just pull it to the door. Yes you would have to pay to work on your own car. So I tend not to work on my car there. Just less headaches. Nope, no access to a drill press, lift, air tools, just what I have around the house. Have a smmaaall arc welder, but it sucks. I miss the TIG at one of the old shops I worked at. People find it surprising of what I can make work with the little resources I have.
When I do do this it will most likely be at my daughters. Her neighbor has a car port they allow my son in law and me use.
I would be taking a weeks vacation when I do. But I want to cover all my bases before hand.
Anyone have any broken TH125 mounts and 4T60e brackets they don't want.

Nothing wrong with saving money with the swap...you definitely have the skills to know what you're doing. Hopefully you can find people around to borrow any extra tools you'll need. I look forward to following your swap.
