Hey all, just came across some 16 inch rims that came off a cavalier 5 x 100 bolt size and they were decent shape but the had some pitting and around the lug nut holes it look like the grey was blistering off. From what i can understand you can sand these down to look good? Can you explain the process or are they just junk?

Rims are never junk unless theyre broke/cracked. Pics would be helpful. What style cav wheels are they polished or painted.. theres many options:-)

They looks painted to me, they were at a salvage company, I didn't buy them as I was uncertain.

Here's a pic of a 92 HP engine lathe used to remove the clear coat & corrosion with a wood chisel, followed by emery paper:

15 kilometers in 1st gear @ idle for 4 wheels. (Maybe only using 0.92 HP...)
