I changed the left rear brake caliper on my 88 formula and everything went fine. So I went to replace the right side brake pads and when I tried to put it back together I couldn't push the piston in. The piston pushes out fine but I can't get it back in. No amount of clamping or squeezing will push it in. I even opened the bleeder screw to relieve the pressure in the caliper (don't worry I pinched off the brake line) and it didn't help. It squeezed a minimal amount of fluid out. No issues bleeding the caliper either. But I just don't get why it won't go back in when it was fine before I replaced the other caliper.

Then I noticed a small tear in the seal around the piston so I'm just going to replace it anyway but I wan't to know what went wrong. Why did it appear to seize at the same time I replaced the other caliper?

Slider pins are stuck too.

Did you screw in the parking brake? It's self adjusting and so needs to be returned to it's screwed in position when replacing pads.

Edit: Check out Ogre's Cave for parking brake adjustment

Clamp method need P brake level REMOVED from caliper.

Bad/rebuilt piston can stop retracting the piston.
