Hi I have an 85 Fiero gt I just purchased today. When I press hard on the gas in any gear instead of revving up there's a gurgling then a backfire. Any ideas?

Sure sounds like it needs a tuneup....

A little more elaboration would be helpful...
- is the engine cold, or at operating temp?
- ever done a tune up?
- any codes on the ALDL?

That kind of stuff....

Its at operating temp (on for 20-30 min). Haven't done a tune up though I just bought distributor cap, cap rotor, spark plugs and wires. No codes yet.

Check EGR valve is closed etc. EGR itself and/or vac valve w/ problems could cause backfires trying to reach WOT.
Very common on L4 but check V6 EGR system.
