I got my wheels in and it is time to find tires for my 85gt, The wheels are 18x8.75 +35 offset. and the rim is very clise to the coilover sleeve...
. I was thinking 255/35/18 but wheel is much closer than I expected but still needs alignment and it is on jack stands so suspension is fully extended... I want as large of contact patch as I can . Any help is appreciated

I just upgraded to 18's on all four corners of my 88 GT that I've owned for 15yrs. On the front I'm running 225/40 and rear 265/35 with absolutely no issues. Btw wheel offset is 47mm. Hope this helps you.

problem is you have more room with the 88, there is no way a 265 will fit , with just the wheel I would guess there is about a .75 to 1" between lip and coil over sleeve , I am going to set the camber at -2 degrees and see where it is at ride height.... Thank you for the reply,

That's plenty of clearance. A 255 will definitely fit. A 265 would be close. Depends on camber.

mine is an 85 , I looked close today and about any tire is going to hit the coil over. I should have gotten 8" instead of the 8.75.. I am going to have to see if I can use a shorter spring to move the perch up higher to clear the tire..
