I need to replace the bushing in my engine support strut(2.5L). I have the new bushings, but I'd like to clean up and paint the bone while I have it off. As long as I am not driving it, is it okay to leave the bone off for a day or two? I am just concerned that it may put to much stress on the lower engine mounts sitting like that.

The torque strut only comes into play when the engine is running and under load so you'll be fine as long as you're not driving it without the dog bone. The engine may shift a little when you remove the first bolt, but you can easily line up the bolt holes again by using a pry bar to lever it back into place when re-installing the bolts.

Engine off?...That's OK. It's there to stop the engine from torquing.

ooops....blooze beat me to it.
