ECMs basically work or they don't. The exception to this is the fuel pump relay driver. It is not uncommon for an ECM to lose only the ability to run the fuel pump relay.

The 'tune' of your ECM is stored on a removable chip inside your ECM. If you have a manual tune instead of an auto or vice versa you can have problems. Otherwise for all the 2.8 ECMs any year tune will work with any year engine/tranny as long as you have the AT/MT correct.

If you just think it might be dead, It should be easy to tell. The ECM controls the check engine light and the fuel pump relay. If you have lost both, then suspect the ECM. However it is more likely you have lost power to your ECM rather than have had your ECM fail.

Thanks for the input. Car is running, just not as well as it should be with all the good stuff shes had done. Other Fiero guys around here suspect it (ecu) or the fuel chip. Ive got a new chip from Summit sitting on the shelf. Just havnt found the time to get to it...and summers nearly over!!
