Hey guys picked up a 85 2.8 4 speed today, the rear control arm is seperated from the cradle... I have a spare cradle. Question is, is it easier to swap the cradle by using one of those bar things to hold the engine in the car? Or drop the engine/cradle and do it on the ground with a cherry picker? My old engine is still attached to the cradle I'm stealing btw. So pros and cons? I'm leaning to unbolt of the cradle well the engine is still in the car myself. Thanks!

I think I would try doing it without removing the engine. There is a lot of stuff hooked to and plugged into the engine, and not much stuff attached to the cradle. Larry

I would just do the cradle, it is only 6 bolts if you do the 3 mounts plus the 4 cradle mount bolts. Even if you take the engine out you still have to lift it up and off the cradle

Exactly what I was thinking, I decided to only swap the cradle. I just got the old cradle free of the old engine, so tomorrow I will just unbolt it, and slap the new one in hopefully!
