I just noticed my Steering wheel will be straight (9am -3pm) on. If I make a hard left the steering wheel goes out of alignment (10am 4pm) make a hard right and it goes back to normal. What should I look at first?? I realize it's not the steering wheel. When I did the engine swap. the rear link felt very tight.

I had this on a Mack truck I drive, however it ended up being a U-bolt loose on the front axle. Can't really claim that for a Fiero haha.
I would wiggle your front tires and see if there is any looseness or play. Could be worn out front tie rod ends or bad wheel alignment.

EDIT: It could also be a loose upper front ball-joint where it attaches to the A-Arm

First, check the mounting of the steering rack. Make sure everything is tight.

If it is, check the pre-load on the rack. I had a similar issue with my 87 GT where as if I turned the wheel while not rolling, my rack would actually skip a tooth. Adjusting the pre-load ended that problem.
