I have a 1988 Fiero 2.5... The fan for heat and a/c does not turn on when fan speed knob is set to any of the lower speed settings and only sometimes turns on when set to max. I don't know what would cause the fan not to work on both low and high. The blower motor resistor is fine. Im not sure about the blower motor relay though. I don't know what to test or replace to fix this problem. If anyone has suggestions on what to chek I would greatly appreciate the help!

The resistors only come in to play on the lower speeds, the relay is for high speed.

Do you have 12v to the resistors?

The motor is grounded with a screw to the motor housing.

Check the ground. If ground is ok, it may be the control head.

I had the same problem and it was one of the relays in the front compartment. I believe it's the A/C power relay -supplies voltage to the blower knob for non high speed settings.

I checked the resistors and they had power, so I decided to check the blower motor again and after unplugging and re connecting the wires the motor is now getting power on the 3 lower speeds but not on max. The motor though is still not doing anything when it has power. I guess I do need a new blower motor.

Where is the relay located that controls max fan?

Thanks

I have tested the blower motor today and it does work, it is getting power on the 3 lower speeds but not enough to make it move. Anyone know what the problem might be?
