I'm having some trouble trying to pop out the driver's side axle from the automatic transmission. I got the passenger side out, but the driver's side does not have as much room to get a pry bar in, and so far I have not got it out.
It started to rain, so I will give it another try tomorrow.

Last year I popped out the axles on a '88 5-speed, with out much problem, when I did a clutch job.

Thanks for the help.

It takes a sharp blow. It is easier if you unhook the back cradle bolts and the dog bone, and drop the cradle down some to get at it from above.

Maybe somebody else will pipe in with a better answer. Good luck

I dunno if this will work on an 88 but this is what I have heard...

Home made slide hammer type tool. Wrap a chain around the axle then wrap the other end around the head of a sledge hammer. A little slack and swing the hammer out. Should be enough to pop it. You may need a helper to catch the axle. I think I read it in Ogre's Cave. Not sure though.

Good luck!
