trying to hook up datalink for my 3800 sc motor my1997 wiring harness does not have tan wire in pin 15 and has a green wire in pin 59 so what does it take to hook up data link connect. wiring harness and motor out of 1997 buick reagal 16227797 computer number pin out for this say tan 15 and purple 59 are the wiresi i hooked up my green pin 59 to purple wire on data link stuck a needle in pin15 to hook a wire to tan wire on datalink and still no cumunication to code reader have good ground and good power to datalink any help well be appreciated thanks

15 to #9 on obd plug- 59 to #2 obd plug-blue #20 to#16 bod plug-#4&5 from the obd plug to ground. mine is out of a 97 Riviera, so I'm thinking they must be the same. This is wired for a '98 computer. Phonedawgs can help you better.

To scan the PCM of your 97 3800 you only need data on pin 2, grounds on pins 4, and 5, and unswitched power on pin 16.

The tan wire is not needed.

For the data wire the standard seems to be Purple and runs to pin 59 Blue.

I can confirm that I can connect to and scan my 97 PCM with only these wires connected.
