I am curious why Subaru brakes haven't become popular swaps for our cars. They are 5x100 and come in tons of different sizes and calipers. There are WRX brakes, later WRX brakes with 4/2 piston calipers and the '04 STi Brembos. Heck, there is even the huge Legacy GT brakes as well. Plus, many more other Subaru applications.
Anyone figure out how to use these yet?

I've been looking into this for some time. I had a pair of front rotors for a GC8 WRX I think it was, they fit machined 84-87 hubs quite nicely. E-brake was a concern that we noticed, stock setup on that generation of WRX is drum inside the rear rotors style. Perhaps WRX front rotors with alternate calipers could work? Needs more investigation.
I know that I have sold early Z32 (90-96) 300zx calipers to guys with 02+ WRX's as a bolt on upgrade and I know that the brakes are a weak point on 3400lb 300z
I aslo know that the 05-07 STi rotors are 12.5" diameter and 1.18" thick when new and throw away thickness is 1.10" (Front)
I have thought about STi rotors on the fiero before they run about $65ea for a OE replacement front rotor (Napa, Pepboys Advanced ect.)
But real STi 4 piston calipers are pricey, 90-91 non turbo 300ZX calipers are almost the same and also aluminum but getting harder to find. A seemingly economical option could be Willwood 4 piston calipers I can't remember the model but they are about $110 @ jegs Don't know about clearance between the rotor and spokes though.
You have to remember that an adapter bracket will probably be needed and will probably space the caliper further out radially. centricparts.com is a decent website to find the basic measurements for rotors. (select your vehicle then open the picture) For example here is a link to a 2004 Impreza WRX STi (hope it works)
Now while it might not be cheap, I've considered trying to install VW/Audi calipers (early 2000s stuff). The rear uses a cable actuated parking brake so it seems promising. Would anyone be interested if I designed a kit? haha

Dont forget, the WRX was offered with 4 piston calipers as well (off & on).
willwood makes a really nice wrx kit .part # is in my ecotec swap thread in the construction zone .i ordered a front set from summit but i waited 3 months and was still back ordered so i gave up on them.a lot of USA suppliers cant ship to canada because of distributor agreements so summit is my only option for these kits .i ended up using willwood gm metric replacement aluminum callipers and i am very happy with them .i would love to have the wrx willwoods (super light two piece rotors ), but not happening unless i do a road trip to california .and yes i would need to fab my own brackets for the wrx kit as well .

Yea I don't know what years other than the STi's I just know I had 3 sets of 90-91 Z32 Calipers for sale on craigslist last year and they all went to impreza owners I assumed WRX coulda been regular 2.5rs or the like.

Was that wilwood part # 140-7005-r Look's like a nice piece, 12.88" rotors with huge honking 6pot calipers. alot of $$$ though
I was referring to the more universal Forged Superlite Caliper, A custom mounting bracket would still be required but at about $150ea for the calipers and the OE replacement STi rotors (12.5"~12.8") at about $70ea that would be about $440 for the front (+ the price of the mounting brackets)
Stock 88 brakes with ebc pads have never let me down, and I commonly stop at 140+ and have ran track days.
Yar, but stock pre-88 brakes fade pretty quickly during autocross and for the most part suck for anything but light duty commuting. Which is why most of us want upgrades. :P
I think (can't remember who, but think it was the guy that built the hybrid electric race car) somebody looked into this and ran into a problem with the subaru rotors. The issue is that the rotor doesn't sit deep enough to allow a fiero-spec offset rim. The caliper would hit the inside of the wheel.

Couldn't someone, then in theory run a different offset wheel and alleviate the issue? Or would that interfere with the suspension components/wheel tub at all?
Yeah, but then you have the wheel sticking out of the fender (not a problem with widebody kits) and bump-steer (hugely annoying to me anyway). Also, those subaru rotors are 23 (!) lbs a piece. The stock '88 rotors are 11. That's a metric butt-tonne of unsprung weight.
