I installed a new stainless steel hydraulic clutch line purchased from Fiero Store on my Indy.

To get the old clutch line out intact (like from a parts car OR to install a factory clutch line,
unbolting the steering rack and separating it from the column makes it MUCH easier to get the clutch line out.

If you're scrapping the old line, you can cut it up to get it out without moving rack.

Once you have the old line on the floor, you'll need to straighten out the shipping bends of the new SS line
and make any other adjustments as necessary to match the factory hydraulic line.

You'll also need to transfer the brackets from the old line to the new line as the line will reinstall in all the original locations.

The new SS line has fittings on both sides of the braided flex hoses. This is very useful at the front end,
because you can separate the section of line that connects to the master cylinder and get that into place by itself.

This also allows you to install the new line without separating the steering column as I did above.
If you are scrapping the old line, you can just cut it up in pieces to get it out.

Once that's in place, its easy to get the main section in place and reconnect the two at the flex connector. Reinstall the steering rack.

Again, at the slave cylinder end, there's fittings on either end of the braided flex connection.
It should not be necessary to separate these when installing, but at least you could it you needed to.

I like the idea of the braided flex connection. Makes it easier to install big time...

Nice write up, I just did this myself a few days ago. I was able to install it without touching the steering rack or fully removing the spare tire tub. I just loosened the tub so I could move it out of the way and feed the top section of the line down and reattached it to the rest of the line. The rest was pretty easy securing it to the body.

I don't know who makes these for FS but it sure appeared to be of good quality.

I thought Inline Tube had them too. Nope, almost everything else but...

Classic Tube has the clutch line listed in their catalog

Yeah, those fittings make all the difference. And as you said it simplifies things if you are cutting up and throwing away the old line.

When I swapped the Indy from automatic to manual, it was a real chore to get the 1-piece factory line up in the front. The only way is to move the rack - even then it's a pain.

Does anyone know if these lines are still available or have a link?

I searched and couldn't find one.

Classic Tube is the vendor for the Fiero Store clutch line. I have also seen brake line sets from Inline Tube resold bt TFS.

They are top quality, you will not find better.

I have the stainless steel lines from the Fiero store for both the clutch line and the brakes. I'm very pleased so far... but I can't say much beyond the appearance quality since I haven't finished restoring my car yet (haven't actually filled them with fluid yet).
