Where does the end of the air intake hose go, obviously the end opposite where it goes to the air filter. Does the front fender shield have to come off?

If this is a Fiero question, the inlet tube is clamped to the air/water separator with a 10 mm headed band clamp. No front fender liner removal required..........

Just checked, I don't see or feel any clamp, the hose seems to disappear into the fender well.

You can remove anything behind there as long as you lift the car high enough to access it. Use a 7mm socket to remove the fender liner and also remove the driver's rear wheel and you can see in there better. On my GT, I removed the stock water separator and silencer assembly and replaced it with a straight tube using a floor jack without removing the lower rear quarter.

I know exactly what you are talking about. the hose is only in the engine bay, it attaches to the air water separator which sticks into the engine bay through the hole in the metal on the left side of the engine bay under the grill. There is a weird style hose clamp where the screw is perpendicular to the clamp instead of parallel like on a standard hose clamp (at least my car is like this) Find the screw and loosen it and the hose will come right off. There is no need to remove any body panels unless you want to remove the air water separator which is a boxy thing that is bolted to the car.

But the tube itself is just a tube in the engine bay and nothing more. At least on my 85 4 cyl it was.

Sounds perfect, I can feel the clamp and the screw, should be a couple of minutes to disconnect and remove the hose.
