I figured I would start a thread, even though I don't expect to update it very often due to lack of time and money. I will be doing this part by part over the winter on my days off (very few) and maybe even through next year. So needless to say this thread will probably be around for awhile.

Last weekend I picked up an L67 for $300 at local pull yard to go into my 95k 86GT... Build plans: VS Cam, #105 springs, 3.4" Pulley, Headers with stock looking exhaust, Stock 4spd muncie (for now), possible 88 cradle upgrade, lots of polish and paint.

Car that's receiving the swap (black):

Engine when I got it home and on the stand:

(needs some cleaning)

About 2-3 hours into polishing supercharger, this could take months and 100s of hours......

86 Fiero GT 4spd - Stock (new to me)
98 GTP - CAI, ZZP 304 3" DP, 304 PLOG, 3.5", Overkill PCM, PRJ wires, Autolite 605s, 180*, STB, Alt rewire, Projectors, 6000k HID, 12" Brakes, GMPP

Started breaking down the harness, going to make it custom lengths to be as neatly routed as possible.. To be revisited near the end of the build.

Well it's been a long time since I started this thread, shortly after starting this thread things have been put on hold but the last few months I was really busy but forgot about this thread, so I will post some things that I got done to bring this thread upto speed....

Installed Deatschwerks DW200 fuel pump and relay rewire, with slight modificatios:

Engine is just about fully assembled, just need a few brackets finished and the supercharger, clutch and misc. Specs: VS Cam, 105# Crow Cam springs, Modified retainers, new (LS7) lifters, Lucas 42.5# injectors, N* w/ GenV:

Polished the GenV blower housing myself, but sent out the snout to have polished and rebuilt by someone else, awaiting snout so I can assemble:

N* throttle body I will be using, got the MAF, wiring and everything to it:

Tapped the EGR hole to use for my brake booster, also blocked coolant passages (maybe an SSIC is in the future...):

MAP sensor location, T off will goto a low mount cut up stock FPR near the fuel filter area:

I did the wiring harness myself, very custom made with correct connectors for my N* MAF/IAT and TPS, etc... Will get better pics of entire harness later in the swap, here is a picture of my injector connectors:

Headers are in process of being built, I pulled the trigger and went with WCF Stainless Headers, going to have a shop mandrel bend 3" back to a Flowtech muffler in stock location, and will exit through these tips:

I will now try to update this thread as I go, this swap will be happening over the summer, I am really motivated to get this done now so it may start coming together more quickly soon. I ordered SPEC Stage3+ clutch late last week so I am still waiting for that along with the headers, about to order engine mounts within the next week and also send out my PCM to sinister performance to get a baseline tune sometime within the next couple weeks.

Today I went to put the oil pressure sender on and it was interfering with my low mount alternator, so I had to put a 90* fitting on it, anyone else have that issue with their low mounts?

Anyone know if there is a better muffler than the Flowtech Afterburner that fits in stock location without modifying trunk?

My alternator bracket is a little hack, but it works.. Without even adding the back side bracket yet it already will practically hold my body weight without budging.

Got a lot done today with stripping out the engine bay. Sucks not having a garage (or even pavement), and such very little cramped working space that gets unorganized.. But despite this I had to prove it can be done!

Wack the wires off on both sides of your existing firewall bulkhead fitting. Take it and boil it in a coffee can filled with water. Then pluck it out and separate it. After your harness is finished assemble it around your wires and fill it with a high temp sealant.

Lol, that would have been a great idea, I just used a torch to melt the glue stuff, it melts really easy but it took some work to melt then scrape on and on.

I'm actually in the latter stages of my swap, I painted my blower to match the car, not polished, but dang that looks so good. I also chose the 3+ spec clutch with my muncie, and sent out my shifter bracket to be modified by WCF to work with the stock cross over then is should be able to move under its own power. You saw my thermostat question, but did my own plug wires and wiring harness so if you have any questions I might be able to help.

I'll keep an eye on this thread, anxious to see the finish product.

Ordered some brush on coating for the cradle, some new bushings and suspension stuff, am in the process of cleaning/degreasing everything for paint. Current goal is to have everything painted up by this weekend, then have everything reassembled in the car the following week/weekend.

I've opted to mount my PCM under the deck vent rather than the typical inside the console spot, already made my harness measured out for this location so I am sticking to it. Going to figure out what to do with EVAP system or just delete it and come up with a good filter vent.

From a vacuum source at the throttle body, or between the throttle body and the SC run a vacuum line to the Evap Solenoid. From the other end of the Evap Solenoid run a line to the PURGE port of the charcoal canister. Mount the Evap solenoid on the transmission or some other out of the way place. If you mount it on the firewall you might hear it click on and off.

7-1-13 sneak peak:

Engine wise need to finalize and bolt on my tensioner/dogbone bracket, do a my final supercharger polishing stage and just small stuff. Supercharger will actually be bolted and installed after its in the car to reduce total cradle height a few more inches.

Work kind of screwed me, so I might not be able to get this finished before end of summer... But I'm still rolling on with things I can do, sometime over the weekend or maybe next weekend I will atleast get the engine/trans on cradle and cradle in, work on rest of the car wiring, get a few more things cleaned up, assemble what I can, etc.

Supercharger is done, except for painting the PCV cap, cutting out a block off plate for the vacuum side, and getting the PCV vacuum tube hooked to TB. And I got all the new rear suspension parts.

I agree that's the best finish I've ever seen on any Eaton.

I don't know if I would say that, I've seen some very perfect looking polish jobs on GP forums, mines got quite a bit of pitting seen in the sun and some of the tight corners not great.. But I don't want it too perfect because it's going to be hard to maintain, even for a non daily driver.

Anyone have any idea on a bar park amount the car will be worth when done? I don't mean book value, but price that these normally sell for in this condition.
