I am installing my auto shifter into my car ( originally manual ) and I don't see how the cable that goes to the steering column is routed. Do I just sneek it through any way I can down the center console and behind the dash? Can the manual column be adapted to work as an auto or do I need to buy an auto steering column? thanks for any advice.

The cable is just for the shifter interlock. It routs through the center console kinda low and under the hvac box. You don't really need it but without it the shifter can be moved out of park at any time. Your manual column will work with the auto shifter.

unfortunately I have 4 young kids who love to play inside my fiero. Definitely need to keep it from coming out of park without the key. Will the manual column work only if I eliminate the shifter interlock or can it still be used utilizing the shift interlock?

The cable plugs into the ignition switch. The Fiero parts book shows the switch but does not have a part number. I did see switches listed elsewhere that do designate manual or auto transmission as to which switch is which. If that's the case, PM me, I have a couple auto trans ign switches laying around you can have for the cost of shipping.
