I saw that, this morning.
Sad. I enjoyed his work.
Hell of a way to go. May they rest in peace.

The US president has seen fit to make a statement on their deaths:

“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

I'm glad that this thread was posted in P&R, as that gives me free reign to express what a total POS that Donald Trump is. What kind of person posts a statement like that regarding the murder of a fellow human being??!!! As much as I detest Trump, even I'm shocked at how low he has stooped. Damn.

Just weighing in on this as this holiday tragedy season is upon us (Brown University shooting, Sydney massacre, and now this). To me, it sounds like the only person that is being driven crazy and losing his sh*t over this terrible occurrence is Donald J. Trump.

Honestly, folks, cant you see what is going on? The man does not have all of his mental faculties. Forget the MAGA-centric policies. This is not the person you want sitting in the Oval Office with his finger on the button.

While I find DJT's comments on this murder in bad taste, I guess y'all never saw Rob Reiners political tirades regarding non-woke politics and especially the sitting President.

Is there anything... ANYTHING... that Trump does which MAGA zealots won't try and rationalize and/or justify? Wow. Just wow.

In reference to Rob Reiner, isn't it kind of bizarre how Trump states at 0:10... "He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned." What normal person refers to themself in the third person like that. The sooner this demented old fool is put to pasture the better.

I'm so glad you brought that up. In the video embedded above, play from 2:00 to see/hear what Rob Reiner himself had to say about Charlie Kirk's death.

Mr. Reiner was gracious when it came to Mr. Kirk's assassination.

I think the point of Mr. Raydar's comment went right over the top of your head.

Why am I not surprised?

From the article...
+++++++++
For at least a decade, Reiner was one of the ugliest, cruelest, and most dishonest political animals on the public stage. Heaven only knows how he found time to do anything other than abuse his status as a Hollywood and political elite, as he seemed to eat up his waking hours spreading what he knew were lies (the Russia Collusion Hoax, etc.). Worse, he deliberately engaged in a crusade to dehumanize Trump and his supporters as existential threats to the world, democracy, and America.

Sorry, but there is no excusing Reiner’s use of his public standing to abuse the truth.

Remember this… It wasn’t Trump who made this feud personal and public. It was Rob Reiner, and asking a human being (which Trump’s critics tend to forget he is) to wash away a decade of bitter, dishonest, and highly personal smears with goodwill that was never extended to him is asking an awful lot.
...
There is simply no doubt that the organized left — and Rob Reiner was one of their outspoken leaders — have worsened mental health in this country, not based on what they see as an actual threat, but based on their bloodthirsty desire to gain and hold onto power at any cost. And it’s all lies directed at one man who, in a sane world, would be seen as a moderate Republican.

But here’s the thing… When you’re provoking the mentally fragile and ill, you can’t guarantee how the tipping point will manifest, where it will be directed, or if the monster you’ve created won’t turn on you.

Might it have been better for Trump to say nothing about Reiner?

Perhaps.

But that doesn’t mean he’s wrong.

+++++++++

Deal with it.

I did not know much about Rob Reiner's political activism. I only knew about his popular movies. The more I learn about his activism, the less I like him.

Okay Einstein... explain to ignorant ol' me how Raydar's comment was relevant. Explain to me why the President of the USA, which used to be a respected position worldwide, should act in as uncouth a manner as any common political commentator/extremist.

You'd think (and hope) the leader of a country would hold themself to a higher standard. Trump wouldn't know a higher standard if he sat on one.

Donald J Trump is an embarrassment to the office he holds. His advancing dementia has obviously eliminated the "filters" in his brain that keep normal people from saying negative/damaging things that don't need to be said. It's terrifying to think what this shell of a man is going to be like by the end of his term in three years. I'm not religious... but heaven help us!

Go back and see what saint Rob posted about Rush Limbaugh the day after he passed from cancer - It was cruel and vicious. I would have preferred Trump say nothing, but after decades of incoming from Rob, I understand his position.

If DJT would have said nothing, he would be criticized for being insensitive.
If he had expressed sorrow at his death, he would have been criticized as disingenuous, as his dislike of Mr. Reiner was well known due to the falsehoods and political attacks initiated by Mr. Reiner.

Mr. Trump said what he said, if it ruffled someone's feathers, tough. Deal with it.

I'll explain it.
But it appears that you didn't bother to click on the link the Joe posted, or even skim the excerpt from that link that I posted, above.
Trump - and anyone who supports anything having to do with him - has put up with a never-ending litany of personal insults from the leftoids, ever since they realized that he could actually beat her highness, Hillary, in 2016. And that's not to mention the bogus charges brought against him that have all been nullified, dropped or dismissed.
It's been relentless, and is still increasing in intensity.
So I don't condone what Trump said, but he's not wrong.

And as I mentioned to someone elsewhere, earlier, the vitriol from the left is the kind of stuff that caused the crazies to murder Charlie Kirk, and to attempt to assassinate Trump, twice, and to cause Steve Scalise to get shot in the middle of a baseball practice - among other "events".
And the list of physical - not just verbal - attacks goes on and on.

So cry me a river.

Sorry to disappoint you both, but I'm glad that Trump posted what he did... as it erases any doubt many people might've had what a total POS he is.

But then there's the diehards, who are oblivious (and/or excuse) any gaffe that Trump makes.

I might ask the same of the leftoids (speaking of "malicious prosecution".)

https://iotwreport.com/fbi-...-to-raid-trump-home/

But I suppose that you'll blow that off, like you did every other example of leftoid malfeasance that I posted.

Face it... people who speak like you are responsible for Charlie Kirk's death. Yeah I said it.

Deal with that.

Another joke of a comment. I suppose you've watched all the videos (like this last one) that I've embedded for the benefit of anyone with an open mind. Uh huh.

Mr. Reiner ignored the advice and warnings of addiction professionals about his son. They warned him that his son was manipulating him and was not to be trusted. He said he knew more about his son than the people with degrees on their walls. He said his son was an expert on addiction. 17+ times in rehab and a history of unstable behavior but dear old dad still trusted him.
