This is going to be an interesting experiment. The Australian government is stepping into the area where parents are supposed to set the rules. I know the teenagers will easily figure out ways to get around the ban.

On the other hand, I love seeing something that will reduce the number of people on social media. IMO social media is a net negative for society.

My daughter uses social media, obviously... but it's the Instagram I am mostly concerned about. She doesn't use TikTok, but I have to talk to her regularly about things... as intelligent as she is, I have to remind myself that she's still a teenage girl, and the mind isn't fully formed. She's still extremely impressionable, and the stuff that perpetuates on social media can be detrimental. There was a huge push for Trans everything over the past several years, and I've had to continuously talk to her about this stuff. I always tell her, treat everyone how you'd want to be treated, but understand that mental illness is excessively pervasive in today's society, and a lot of people are driven by influence.

I do know that Florida banned the use of cell phones in school, except in certain situations, and from 2023 to 2024, test scores improved 10%.
