I just wanted to put this here, This is a story about Albany's mayoral race, NYS capitol, under democratic leadership for over a 100 years, with 6 mayors in that time. What is interesting is the turnout numbers, less than 4000 people turned out to vote. Why do you think that is, disenfranchised voters maybe?

Historically speaking, the party in power of the Federal government during mid-term elections rarely does well. Although disappointed somewhat, was not surprised by the results.

Edited: But, I do expect those that can financially afford to move out of NYC to look at and may actually move. You know, the ones Mamdani wants to put the higher taxes on to pay for all the "free stuff".

Traditionally blue states stayed blue.
Virginia, briefly red under Youngkin, returned to blue.

Why is this news?

I work for a Global tech firm. We have remote workers all over the globe.
NY and CA are the only states that we are not able to hire new employees and give out raises.
They are also one of the few states that force employers to pay what the position should pay.
So it was good while it lasted but soon I suspect both states will become unbearable to live in.
My counterpart in South america makes 1/8 what I do but he could also buy a house for what I make in a year.

The only thing raising wages does is lower the value of our savings/investments.
If no one tackles inflation then we will always be the slaves to someone, either employers or the government.
How does everyone like their cheese?
