I go on Reddit now and then to post stuff on the /Fiero and /Engines forums... but I got one of those e-mails from Reddit telling me to check out the r/Politics thread. Oh man... that place is crazy.

Every person in there is radically far-left leaning. Almost every comment is wild propaganda or at best hypocritically misleading.


Like one post where someone shouted... "ELON HELPED TRUMP WIN!!! HE EVEN ADMITTED IT!!!"

... to which I said, "Elon helped Trump win in the same way that Zuckerberg and Twitter helped Biden win in 2020."

Dude flew off the handle, was talking about NAZIs and stuff, and then his original comment got deleted, and then his response to me was deleted. Probably because he was using all caps.

It's a cesspool in there...

I used to go there, but pretty much lost access to my account about six months ago, due to an email address that "went south" (long story).
I wasn't even on any of the really political groups, and the large majority of everyone there were liberal posterior orifices, or "professional victims". Or both.
The whining was incredible.
I could have probably rescued the account, but it really just wasn't worth it.

That is just the surface. There are subreddits that have bots auto-ban people who are members of other subreddits. You get a random post in your thread from one of those subs, post an innocuous reply and bam, you are banned out of the blue from that sub because you joined a sub they don't like.

The loonie leftists actively try to take over other subs. They recruit similar minded people that are already members of other subs, tell them to request to become mods of said subs, then in a few months to a couple years they take over. Subs that used to be non-political all of a sudden turn into loco lefty land.

If you really want to go down a rabbit hole, look up the history of r/the_donald. A bunch of leftists could not stand that there was a pro-Trump sub so they all ganged up and eventually banned the sub. But the mods of the sub saw it coming from a mile away and had an exit strategy. They set up thedonald.win site which then changed to patriot.win. That is where the sub with its supporters went.

Then there are the pedos. Lots and lots of them on reddit including many mods.

came back to visit my favorite forum here to bump the epic 'how NOT to behave on the Internet' post by (then) Dude16 which had been moved to the trashcan. Bit it seems to have disappeared.

I wouldn't put a dime into Reddit's IPO unless I could turn it for a crazy profit quick. My thinking is it is past peak relevance and all the management of the company can do is manage the decline.
