I posted another video from this person, a few days ago.
(A lot of what he has reported has come to pass - especially regarding Stellantis.)
This will be cool if it comes to pass. (Spoiler alert... 35 years old and older. Would include all Fieros.)

It used to be that cars 30 years or older were smog exempt. Schwarzenegger with his green buddies in the legislature capped that at 1975 and older. I'll take going back to 35 years or older. It is dumb to have a hard cutoff date in the law. Car makers are not stocking all the smog parts need to remain in compliance with the current law. I had a hard time getting a replacement smog under hood smog sticker for my truck in 2005. My truck is a 1991 model. If that sticker wears away again, I don't think I will be able to get another sticker. Without that stupid sticker the smog testing stations automatically fail you. The dumbest thing is that the sticker is not even needed. They have all the information they need in their computer.

On this subject, if this change in federal law happens, then CARB will be stripped of their waiver. This will mean they will no longer be able to regulate emissions.

https://www.moreno.senate.g...025/02/GAI252354.pdf

We just might see the end of CARB over the next couple years. I pray it happens. I hate CARB with a passion.

You ought to clearcoat it.

But that's the rub. California doesn't want you to be able to drive your old car. They really want to get all the gas engine vehicles off the road. I'll bet they needed towels when "cash for clunkers" was implemented. It's kind of like they're the "anti-fun" brigade. (Among all the other "anti" stuff.)
(I don't want to get all "preachy", but cash for clunkers was sinful. People could have used those cars. People who needed cars. Pizzed me off as much as anything "government-mandated" ever has.)

I truly hope this law comes to pass, or is superseded by something else (mentioned in the video.)

Check this out! Same guy. (He also defers to another reporter.)
Disclaimer: This is all speculation at this point, but it appears that stuff is happening quickly.

They will just regulate insurance to the point you cant afford it.
Can't drive your old car more than 3000 miles a year. Have to have it in a garage.

I hope it does pass and stop this 2 year smog check bull **** .

I also hope this helps brings back the small truck market.

This is where you install that little on/off switch inline with the Fiero's speedometer motor, then use your phone's gps as a speedometer when you drive. Turn the switch back on a month before you have to show proof of the 3000 miles. Can't help with more modern cars though.

We could all just let our classic cars run 24 / 7 / 365 on our driveways.

This law requires classic car insurance. That insurance limits the miles driven per year and typically requires the car to be kept in a locked garage.

This greatly reduces the usefulness of this law. They might as well just call it the Boomer Sunday Driver law.

Thats my concern. Will they leverage that to include all cars that don't have to be smog tested or just 1975 and older? CA will get you one way or another. ****ing hate it out here most of the time.
Indiana had classic car tags but they didn't mean anything.

“fully exempt” any vehicle that was made at least 35 years ago, if it were insured as a collector vehicle.
