MSNBC presidential historian Michael Beschloss on Wednesday night warned that if Republican candidates win their races next week, American democracy and the free press could end, historians may no longer exist, and “our children” could all die at the hands of a “brutal authoritarian system.”
“We could be six days away from losing our rule of law,” the historian declared.
Beschloss compared Biden to Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt as he continued to build to his crescendo, in which he argued that in just six days, America could see the beginning of the end of it all.
“A historian 50 years from now, if historians are allowed to write in this country and if there are still free publishing houses and a free press, which I’m not certain of,” he said. “But if that is true, a historian will say, what was at stake tonight and this week was the fact whether we will be a democracy in the future, whether our children will be arrested and conceivably killed.”
“We’re on the edge of a brutal authoritarian system, and it could be a week away,” he said.
The hyperbolic language of desperation and panic
It is SO MUCH FUN watching the Leftoids, especially the ones on the televised mental institution / MSLSD, go into spastic hysterics as the reality of their approaching fate becomes clear to them.
They tried using Jan 6
They tried using the Dobbs v Jackson decision
They tried their 3rd world, communist style, government raid your political enemy at Mar-a-Lago
They tried Brandon's bizarre, nazi style, "ULTRA MAGA" speech.
They tried "Hammer Time at Casa Pelosi"
Now it's just full blown panic.
.
Leftists gotta Leftist.
Allowing them to run the country is like handing over your car keys and wallet to a group of drunk teenage girls at the mall

I do not hold any individual other than Jesus Christ as the absolute oracle of truth for me, however if I did have another, VDH might be on the short list.
He speaks from a factually solid and reasoned perspective of cultural, social and political history in a very down to earth way
Here is his take on what is going to happen this Tuesday:

'The Girl in the Blue Dress' -- ' Aw, c'mon, Hillary darling, just this once ? ' ' Oh, no Billy, that's so, so icky ! ' ' Unnngggh ! ' -- Unintended consequences of the butterfly's wings beating the flower's petals to stir. Many, many years later... Bill juices the thin end of the Cuban, his heels resting on the edge of the Resolute Desk. ' Monica darling, would you pick up the cigar I've dropped ? '
Gee, Tulsi delivers a speech sounding just like.. like... an American Patriot ! Quite a difference, a stark difference, from the incompetent drooler, the pretendadent. Thumbs down for the imbecile BiedenJoe, a compromised stooge. The sound of the trepanning drill, always makes the sick, decrepit cretin look up and to the left, up and to the left, ' I like ice cream ! ', as he plied his preteen victims with popsicles and lollipops. ' She was twelve, I was thirty ! ', he actually said that ! The demented old fool should be in a prison. Punt BidenJoe out of the Oval Office. Try him for his crimes. Stop a global nuke war. Bring peace to the planet. Make America great again ! .. That sounds like popcorn ! Dempartie coconuts bursting inside their Martian glass helmets .. Oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo When I'm calling you Oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo Will you answer too? Oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo That means I offer my love to you to be your own If you refuse me I will be blue, waiting all alone But if when you hear my love call ringing clear Oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo And I hear your answering echo so dear Oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo Then I will know our love will come true You'll belong to me, I'll belong to you Then I will know our love will come true You'll belong to me, I'll belong to you
My greatest satisfaction will be seeing former Speaker Pelosi hand that gavel to anyone else. I don't know that Rep. Kevin Owen McCarthy will be or is the right person to be Speaker of the House but, almost anyone would be better than Pelosi.
Republicans are projected to barely hold a majority in the House, and may even lose a Senate seat…
"Majority"
Keep repeating that word until it's full meaning becomes clear to you.
Keep repeating that word until the full meaning of House Demorats being in the minority becomes clear to you.
Keep saying "majority" as your precious "J6" partisan kangaroo court is dismantled and the House investigations into the crooked Bidens and covid malefactors begin.
Keep saying "majority" as old and new members of the House now ponder the recent fate of those that pitched their electoral hopes on Trump impeachment and Jan. 6
Keep saying "majority" as the House, that controls the nation's purse strings, shuts off funding to the Leftist's recent legislative boondoggles, (exempli gratia: the wildly insane "inflation reduction act")
Keep saying "majority" as the mumbling, stumbling, Joseph Robespierre Biden's shadow administration of Marxist Neo-Jacobins is forced to try to "rule" solely by executive order for the next 2 years. Executive orders that the federal courts have already proven they can easily spoil.

My “dream team” is a divided Congress in general. I’d prefer no big federal agendas rather than in any direction. So yes, I’ll let it sink in.
I just love that Republicans saw how toxic Trump can be on their party and hope this serves as a very strong message. Moderates don’t want these extremists running their country.

You have a very active imagination about "toxicity" on a political party, especially when the results aren't all in yet, and your TDS hyperbole is noted.
Of course you do have a long history on this forum of not just jumping, but pole vaulting, to bizarrely "reasoned" conclusions.
Aside from the usual Leftie unsubstantiated accusations of Trump's emotional state, even Forbes says that it's a "mixed" result.

The difference is that this was their race to lose.
Compare this to other midterms. It’s not about the end result, it’s about what it should have been by all accounts. Biden has a terrible approval rating. This shouldn’t have even been close. The fact that you can’t see that just shows how deep you are.

I know this will kind of come off dick, and I apologize... but the problem I have when you post, is that I kind of feel like you're being fake.
If you just admitted that you're a Democrat, then reading your posts would be so much easier. But the fact that you pretend to be an independent, and one that is mostly right-leaning, just baffles me because I simply know it's not true. You've perhaps convinced yourself otherwise... I suppose, but I find your posts annoying to read because of that, just being honest. Like, I have no problems reading Rinselberg's posts... because he has no problem with his beliefs and where he stands. So... I can have a normal conversation with him and debate issues politely. But in talking with you, you come off somewhat arrogantly... (though wildly misplaced arrogance) like, you pretend like your views are based on anything other than your left-leaning partisan opinions. And that's just fake...
Again, sorry... it's just the first thing I think of when I read your posts, and I generally don't even bother responding because of it.

NEVER apologize for stating the truth Todd.
You're talking about someone who, despite have been exposed many times on this forum for what he really is, still somehow believes that everyone is too stupid to see him for what he is.
THAT is the arrogance you correctly sense oozing from him. That is the Leftist arrogance of ignorance.

To respond simply, I’m not. I don’t support the vast majority of democrat policy. I just can’t stand Trumpism.
I’m a classical liberal, and I don’t fit in either major party as they exist today. I understand that you feel like I’m misrepresenting myself, and I understand how that can be annoying.
I’ve stated my opinions down a list to exhaustion. I’ve expressed in detail a wide range of political opinions. They’re there for reference if you ever want to take a look. There is nothing else to defend at this point.
And make no mistake, I don’t pretend I’m some “enlightened centrist” where I just don’t support either party because I try to remain neutral. I’m not neutral—I can’t stand Republicans post-Trump. I do wish I could reliably support a major party, because I’d like to participate more.
I will respond at length to you because I respect you, but I’m not going to reproduce a defense that I’ve already laid out. You don’t trust me, and at this point there is nothing more I can do about that.
P.S., just for fun, some Libertarian Party news… The LP has been taken over by the Mises Caucus since our last discussion, at the last LP convention. The Mises Caucus is a right-wing leg of the Party who support Trump. They’ve had candidates run and then bow out of the race endorsing the Republican candidate. It’s caused a huge shitstorm within the Party, with State affiliates disassociating with the national Party. It’s possible you may be confused because these Mises Caucus members also purport to be Libertarian, but are clearly very different than I am. Just like any political party, there are many caucuses. I’m most closely aligned with the Libertarian Party that was in place from 2012-2022.
Kinda like saying that you're aligned with the Whig Party of 1843.....something else that doesn't exist anymore.
It doesn’t surprise me at all that someone who thinks political opinions are binary is unable to consider having opinions outside of their political party.

It is endless fun giving you opportunities to beclown yourself more and more, so I'll ask you, what political party do you imagine that I belong to?

In case you missed it, Mark Theissen as a guest on Fox News did a great job pointing out the HISTORIC poor Republican performance in this midterm (see below). Today I heard Kevin McCarthy happily bragging that he had 'increased seats' in the last elections ... I expect if you had been present you would have seen fumes coming out of my ears. He, Mitch McConnell, and Ronna McDaniel, all need to be fired as the first order of business next year. But I'll go on record here predicting that the Three Stooges (no disrespect meant to Moe, Larry, and Curly, etc.), will continue to plague us from their current positions.
