Senate passes bill that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent CNN and many others
Fail when Northern kids went to school way before Dawn in the first winter. Worse if you have to take a Bus to school because you have to allow 1 - 2 hours more just for transportation before school starts.
This is Why the Time Switch dates changed just a Few Weeks starting in 2007.... Last Sun in Oct to First Sun in Nov First Sun in April to Second Sun in March Total is 4 or 5 weeks depending on calendar for a given year.

Living in the far Eastern or far western segment of a time zone is a problem.
I lived in Indiana for several years in a town near the Ohio border. Ohio changed time twice a year, Indiana did not. I preferred to not change time, it just made a lot more sense. I worked in Ohio, so for years I dealt with two time zones on a daily basis, as did all of the people in the area.
Some advocates and sleep researchers have demanded for the removal of the system by replacing it with a standard time cycle that aligns with one’s internal clock, mood and physical and mental health.
Dr. Sabra Abbott, a sleep medicine specialist at Northwestern Medicine, is a supporter of the standard time system.
“It is much healthier to get more of that light in the morning than in the evening,” she said. “There are a lot of studies that show that if you live in the Western side of the time zone, where you are getting less of that morning light, there are higher rates of cancer, depression rates go up if you don’t have that morning light. So, as a community, the sleep field feels like standard time year-round is the best approach.”
Who came up with this "Round earth" crap....We need a FLAT earth.........And the sun needs to come up at the same time every morning and go down the same time every evening....I say we pass a law requiring this!

Not quite sure why they decided on staying on Daylight Savings instead of Standard Time.
Well if they went to standard time those people that never got rid of the end of life OSs could just disable DST and go about their business. But if they stay in DS time instead there will be a bigger push to get rid of those systems or pay out the nose for a 3rd party fix. Not that I know of anyone running end of life OS.

2012 goes end of life in 2023 and you would be surprised (or not) by how many companies still have old windows 2008/2003 servers online. I don't think home users will have too many issues but I would expect this to break authentication for anything 2012 R2 and below without a patch. I would expect 2016 and newer would get a patch from MS. Perhaps this is the push they need.
Don't really care, I'm retired and get up/go to bed whenever I feel like it. Well, that's not really true, I'm an early riser, if the sun is up, so am I. The only reason I care about what a clock says is because I still have to do business with banks and other commercial entities.
Ya know, I'm sick of the time bs. Changing the time twice a year does nothing beneficial for anyone. It's a net drain on society.
You worried about kids waiting for a bus in the dark? Go to the School board and have school start an hour later, or give the little guys some flashlights. Life isn't always easy, sometimes you are in the dark.
There are many places that don't follow daylight savings time; Japan, China, Arizona, and Hawaii. The world doesn't end there. Not only can you still survive in those places, it's not bad at all.
I don't know why they didn't stay on standard time, it makes no sense to me, but I'm just glad we stopped the ignorant switching for now.

Once you get above ~ 40° North Lat, about where NYC is, working "9-5" your hardly see the sun before and after work in winter. just 1° or 2° more north your very close to Canada and is worse.
Change Dates seems to help but DST all year will cause a lot of problems not just kids as above example.

A Huge amount people does just that.
Many see No Reason to buy or install Win8 8.1 10 or 11 for Many reasons likely never ending fight just for M$ tracking, Ads and bloatware and Why Win7 is still over 15% market share. Many have Win7 and 10 as dual boot and run 7 most times.
Many will just disable auto DST...
Auto Time setting is fixing 1 file w/ all date in it. Or use regedit for same. Is fairly easy to add a Time Zone that does whatever. I used to have "Space Time" w/ setting for normal setting so to screw-up other net admins.

I agree. When I was a Production Manager, most of my employees would gripe about the time change for one reason or another so, I simply adjusted the starting time of the shift for the labor pool. Just as Fats is suggesting. Our office folks who reported to the General Manager stayed on whatever the time was for the rest of the community. Had to because that's what our customers did. My production employees liked what I did for the most part. You're never gonna please everyone.

One thing I never understood... if some people believed the Earth was flat, and that water would simply pour off the side of the earth as it's doing in this image... where exactly does the Earth get new water from? Had they come up with an explanation for that? I mean, I realize there's a seriously limited group of people that actually believe this, but I'm just curious if they had bothered to explain this.

All of my PCs are Windows 10 with one exception. I keep an old desktop in my basement workshop for some mild net browsing and car parts info. That system is still running XP so I must be very brave or very stupid. I concede that both may be true but I did not want to waste a functioning computer.
