We've gotten a lot of help and advice from a lot of people. I'll say, Mike Valentine was especially nice to allow us to come by Toney Alabama and "go shopping," as was the Fiero Store when we went to CT. Both of them gave us a little discount that they definitely didn't need to. All the regulars on here have been super nice, and one guy even donated a whole running 1988 Fiero motor, which we basically stole all the brackets and pulleys off of, and then I donated the long block to someone else who replaced a blown motor. Villain on here also let me look around and go shopping at his Florida location, and so did Larry Hubert.
In the end, we paid for about 99% of all the stuff on the car, haha... but it's part of the experience, knowledge, and getting to meet all the different people in the hobby (which my daughter likes most out of all of it, aside from the car).
We had one guy offer her a complete LS v8 on a cradle, along with some other things, but I didn't want to take it because I didn't want to get into a situation where we didn't finish the project, and everyone felt like they'd been cheated out of stuff. I know this kind of happened before with a couple of other people, and I didn't want this to end up like that.
The good news though, the Fiero is basically almost done.
- Tuning the fuel pressure regulator to get the fuel ratio just right.
- Rebuilding both doors
- Rebuilding the entire front suspension
- Replacing all the stuff on the steering column (ignition lock, turn signal stalk).
The rest of the car is completely done...
