I have to change the slave cylinder on my 86. Are the flare nuts on the slave SAE or Metric? I need to purchase a set. TIA for advise.

I just checked to make sure of the size- the flare nuts that mount the slave are definitely metric- 13 mm.....But a 1/2" wrench will also work.

Warning about the flex line to the slave; While changing mine I must have pulled on the line a bit....Later, I realized that the clutch was not fully releasing when the peddle was up all the way- apparently the damaged line was acting like a one-way valve- so fluid would go in the slave cylinder but not exit...Rodney Dickman made a repair line- but he is going out of business so may not have anymore....

Thank you. The size of the flare nuts on the fluid line is what I need. Do you know if they're metric or SAE?

I have used Rodney's fluid line repair kit about 2 decades ago ago. It worked great. The original line got broken when the engine was being dropped out for a clutch change.

Arrggggggg! I should have caught that.....OK, just checked and the flare nut (The correct one that attaches the line to the slave) is 14 mm....Please make sure to use one of the "Flare nut" wrenches...Using a regular wrench is how I first bunged up the nut which led to me years later trying to get the slave off, then >>Lift it up<< for access which damaged the line.

I used a regular open end once when I was replacing the master cylinder and did the same thing you did. I read your post while I was out and stopped by Harbor Freight and picked up a 6 pc set of flare nut wrenches. Thanks for your help.
