Hey everyone, I'm Steve and I'm a returning member! It’s been a long time, but here’s the short version. Back in my late teens and early twenties, I went through a LOT of Fieros—models from every year, including Pace Cars, SEs, and GTs. I got rid of them all by the early 2000's. I'm 43 now so it's been a minute.

About 25 years ago, a friend of my dad’s had a white 1988 Fiero GT with T-Tops. What really caught my attention wasn’t just the car.. it was the little lumbar adjustment in the seat. I’d never seen that in another Fiero (still haven’t, in person), and as silly as it sounds, that tiny detail convinced me this was the ultimate Fiero. The one I had to own. But at the time, it wasn’t for sale.

Over the years, I’d spot it at shows now and then, always glad to see it was still around. About five years ago, I reminded the owner how much I loved his car and asked him to think of me if he ever decided to sell. He promised me that I had first dibs, but I figured he'd never remember me when of if the time actually came.

Fast forward to last month... I got the call. He was ready to let it go, and I had first dibs.

Now, I’m beyond excited to say I’m the proud owner of this super near-mint ’88 Fiero GT. I feel like a kid again!

This Fiero has 66k miles on it, Automatic, and is extremely well kept. It's been in climate controlled storage most of its life. I plan to give it the same level of care for the rest of my life. Not letting this one go!

Here's some pics, one is of my son at the same age I was when I got my first Fiero, 17!

And here's a few pics of my old fieros

My first Fiero - only pic I have of it, unloading it from my Dad's rollback, late 90's. '87 Coupe 4cyl, Automatic

Driving to my high school graduation in 2000. 1985 4cyl, 4 speed. This car would become the car on the right in the next pic

One of my GT's on the left, me in the middle, with my "Unofficial" Pace Car on the right. This was my favorite project car. Yeah it was a fake Pace Car but I liked it at the time and thought it was cool.. lol

My sister had the red GT on the left.

Some parts cars

A friend of mine staring at yet another Fiero we hauled in

Hope you enjoyed the new car and some of my old Fiero pics, happy to be back on here!

Steve

Welcome back. I would say that many Fiero owners come back into the hobby as they recall the fun of the timeless styling and the unique driving experience..

Welcome back man! It's funny because your story is so very similar to mine. I'm a little bit older (47 now), but same deal. I got my first Fiero in my senior year of high school in 1996. I then had close to a dozen Fieros over the next 4-5 years, finally getting rid of (almost) all of them by the early 2000s. Life happened, and I forgot all about Fieros, though... I still maintained some existence on this forum. I've recently come back in full force when my daughter got her own Fiero at 13, and she's been fixing it up.

I said "almost" above, because my original high school car, I put it in storage where it's basically been for 15 years. Eventually I'll take it out and start fixing it up again... but I'm just glad that I kept it.

Nice to have you back man!

I'm in a similar boat myself. Got my first Fiero in 1990 when I got my drivers license, and I have had at least one ever since then. In total, I've owned one of each model year, but the one I held onto was an 86GT that I bought in 2004. Between then and about 2010 it got a 3800 swap, brake upgrade, a paint job in that dark green metallic color they had on the Bonneville in the 90s, Mr Mike's seats, and a lot of misc interior pieces replaced to clean it up. Back in 2016 my GF was driving it and the cap on the heater hose attachment on the original Fiero thermostat gooseneck let go. She overheated the hell out of it before she realized what was going on, and warped both the heads and gummed up the oil rings something fierce. It sat for a lot of years, until this summer when I shipped it up to an old friend's shop and had then drop a brand new reman 3800 in her. Just got her back on the road, and now sorting out all the stuff from letting it sit all those years.

In the meantime I went through a few other cars, and ended up keeping a beater Cadillac SRX and the two Camaros in the pics, a 2010 Hennessey car I found with only 3600 miles on it, and the 69 RS someone did a 396 swap on in the 70s or 80s. But the itch to get in the Fiero never goes away, lol
