I don't know if anyone remembers me. I haven't been on here in many many years.. Anyways Hi everyone!

I used to own an '87 GT and an '88 formula. I sold them both years ago. I was in the middle of doing a 3800 SC swap on my '87 GT.

Recently I purchased an '88 GT with a 3.4 DOHC V6 also known as the LQ1.

Here's a few pics below.

Thanks. I have a few things on it to tiddle up but other than that it's a fun little banger. The usual problems like bent clutch pedal and shifting issues. I've fixed most of it already. It's shifting is about 85% better. I flushed out the system and replaced it with silicone DOT5 racing fluid and replaced the master. Last thing to do is put in the dual seal slave piston from Rodney. My last problem big problem is the top motor mount. When I put the pedal to the metal The top engine motor mount pushes on the top front side of the trunk and it's pushing it in. I will have to reinforce it. Somebody wasn't thinking to clearly.........

Haha. Thanks! Too be fair that was the previous owner before I bought it. It still had his plate on it. I personally never cover my plate.... I don't actually understand why or what it serves as everyone sees the plate when I'm driving anyways.. 🤔

What's your ride man? I also remember your forum name and we have talked many times before.

Ahh yes I remember you Patrick. Maybe but I did purchase it from a BC citizen in Victoria.. Only the police or city can access private information through your plate. And even then they still have to go through the DMV system. 🤷

no, just one i worked on for a club member. its a 88 in plum purple from dodge is what he told me.
mine is much much worse lol. i havent done much with it to finish it getting roadworthy, the 3rd select cable (used) breaking kinda just made me finish giving up for now. they always snap at the plastic for me and im done
edit 2: just realized how much worse it looks but i have made progress. i installed a new radiator, got the engine running good and got a jump on titling finally (screw state inspections only being in seattle without 3 year scheduling in any town near me) and i have multiple new headlight buckets and everything but the ac compressor is new from a wrecked car but i wasnt able to find a free gt front bumper yet..

Lumbar and Performance Sound? Very nice.
I've got an 88 coupe that is (at some point) getting an LQ1/F23 swap, unless I chicken out and just do an LZ9.

I'm not sure if we've chatted much, in the past. I do remember your screen name, though.

This is my other car. It's a Formula with a fastback conversion, and a 4.9.

I didn't even know it had those options until I looked at it and I was pleasantly surprised! I had to replace the subwoofer. The lumbar seat bladders need some work. I haven't checked them yet but I'm sure they need replacement bladders. Nevertheless still nostalgic.

I personally wouldn't recommend the LQ1 it's extremely hard to get any parts for it. It has piddly to no support. Just getting gaskets and spark plug wires was a pain. And I had to spend hrs trying to find what I needed.. I personally would go with a 3800 or a honda K24A2 or a Honda J series V6. What's the LZ9?

Some screen names ring a bell. I think I remember you a little.

The Formula fastback conversion looks awesome! I love it man! Definitely would like to see more of that. The 4.9 must be heavy? How's that feel? Is that 18s rear and 17s front?

I hear yah man. Inspections are stupid I'm so sick of government... I'll stay hush on that subject 👀... But you just got to get motivated. The Fieros are quite easy to work on. There can be a few frustrations like clips breaking and what not but you can just replace that stuff. What's wrong with your current front bumper?

My LQ1 has the AC compressor still on the engine I just have to get a set of custom short lines to get it connected. They are just all around fun to work on. And driving them is just one of a kind feel.

this is fiero number 3 (88 formula that i gave to a friend. then a 84 we put together in 2 weeks from a pile of parts and its quite possibly one of the nicest stock 84s left, the dash pad is still soft all over it)but its been a constant fight with everything i touch like the 5th fuel pump now and it finally works but the timing is now off for some reason even though i never touched it, stuff like that just piles up. what really killed my motivation was when my s10 blazer died and then someone stole a bunch of the beige interior out of my fiero and smashed up the other vehicles near it and took all 8 batteries so moneys kinda tight now since 3 vehicles needed a windshield and insurance made it out of pocket
as for my front bumper? if you can see the picture its got quite a few large holes in it and is warped severely and split around every mounting hole

😳 Wow! Sorry man. I had no idea all that happened. I'm not gonna lie that would kill all my inspiration.... That would be a huge motivation destroyer.... Well I get why you feel that way.

I'll be honest those S10 Blazers are overwhelming to work on aswell. I hated my 2002 S10 crew cab ZR5! I remember I loved that truck..... Until I had to do maintenance..... Uhhhggg The oil pan and how the crossmember was in the way... When I had to do the spark plugs the steering column was in the way and I had to take the driver's side suspension apart to get to ONE spark plug! Gahhh! Hrs of work for one SPARK PLUG! Hahaha arrrgg! And then my spider injectors went and had to remove the plenum to change the spider injector! What a retarded setup!!! It was never ending pain everytime I had to do any simple maintenance! What a stupid vehicle.... Maybe you like your blazer but after all that I hate S10s and Blazers now. And I hate that 4.3 liter V6 with a passion! Anyway end of rant!

I hear your pain homie.... 8 stolen batteries and all that vandalism is harsh.... Sorry about telling you that you need to get motivated..... I understand!

hey least im making progress....and theres now 12 gauge slugs on standby.
i have a 93 s10 blazer tahoe LT which i adore greatly with every single option it could have had and is exactly how me a 21 year old would have ordered it only thing is im slowly starting to wish it was a 92 with a TBI so i could 350 swap it( my 4.3l is running bad for no explainable reason i can find so im gonna probably replace the headgaskets since i know those are going bad) while keeping my fuel injection but the CPI spider injection makes 200 hp at the crank and isnt much slower than a Typoon which i have been collecting the drivetrain stuff to make a 4 door into since the longer wheelbase is better for speed and handling because it doesnt handle on a knifes edge as much

I've never even heard of a "S10 Blazer Tahoe LT"... A 350 is a good engine for one of those. Your 21 and I'm 40. At least you have more energy then I do now. Although I have learn a lot of things in the last 15 years.. I've learned Bodywork, Paint, Fiberglass, Upholstery ect ect... I have accomplished quite a number of things I always wanted to do. But mostly medium sized projects. If I had an enclosed garage I would build a complete custom Fiero rebody of some kind. But still thankful I have a carport. Better than nothing.

Here's a big boombox I made out of fiberglass and $1000 of car stereo equipment. Has Bluetooth, LED VU Meter built into the handle, Has NES, N64, Sega Genesis installed on it and 2 Wireless game controllers, Wireless Phone charging and runs on Makita batteries.

thats pretty badass though. my fiberglass skills aren't great but i havent had the money to sink into it yet and i cant do circuit design to save my life so im making my electrical engineer buddies help lol.
as for a garage? get a pole barn car port and throw sheet metal walls and a door on and you can put up to a r12 of insulation in and itll get you pretty far for 1500 bucks.
im personally putting up a 18 x 20 wood shed/barn i scaveged off a foreclosure that was being cleaned up and thats gonna be a mini shop for the medium duty machines i run

Unfortunately I live in Canada which is now known as Chinanada. We aren't allowed to build stuff like that on our properties anymore. Everything must be done according to Canadian specifications. And if you don't obey them the local government will put a lien on the property and they will take your property away.
