Forty years ago, I ordered my Fiero SE V6 thru a friend of my fathers...car broker; He then put in the order at the Pontiac/Cadillac dealer out in Tracy, CA....6 weeks later, while I was working, my father went out to Tracy and picked up my car. After work, I drove to my father's house and then he taught me how to drive a stick. I had ordered the car with a manual trans- but had never driven a manual....Craziest thing I ever did (My father had been into sports cars in the fifties- before I came along and ruined his life)

I decided to drive to some of these locations; 1) the dealership in Tracy (Shut down long ago, 2) My father's house, 3) The car broker office, 4) Where I stalled it, 5) my apartment in Alameda, and 6) Building 400, where I worked back then....here are some pics I took....

Wow - indeed, the years has flown so fast!

I started riding motorcycles for many years, so when I finally brought four wheels; it was easy to drive a manual transmission...

I’ve owned three manual Fiero models over the years; it is only 37 years ago when I brought my last Fiero, a '88 GT

My Pontiac dealer is still in business, but it is a Honda dealer now...

My father was really into sports cars back in the fifties- he belonged to the Highland touring club and the Four Cylinder club...Lots of rallies, Concours, and cruises. Before I was born he had an incident with a friend in his friend's Jaguar Mk 7....Driving on Highway 50 Dublin Canyon (Now 580) with COMMON passing lane (Even around turns) he was doing >>90<< and a car came around the turn ahead in the same lane- Buzz panicked and locked up the brakes- They spun around BACKWARDS into On-coming traffic for 1/8th of a mile.....After that, my father and most of his friends switched to boats.

The coolest car he ever had was a Jowett Jupiter, really bizarre car- even for a British car; Flat 4, water-cooled, with radiator BEHIND the engine, Torsion-bar suspension, and (The coming thing in the fifties) a COLUMN-SHIFT 4 speed...Now, this car looks old- but considering it coming out in 1950, it was really advanced- and, in the 1.5 liter class at Le Mans, the car won 1950-51-52!

Here is a pic of my father at a Concours De Elegance at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in 1954;

"40 years ago I bought a Fiero"

Me too. 1985 Fiero GT off the lot of Greenbrook Pontiac in May. White, 4spd, sunroof, wing, PW, PL, cruise. I went to Greenbrook more looking for a 6000 STE but that changed quickly when I saw the GT. Boy did that car turn heads.
