I have heard mixed reviews- just wondering if there have been any recent installs?
Looking for something that will match 88 Beechwood color and pattern.
Never bought from here... but I HAVE replaced carpets in several cars over the years. The only thing I'll say with respect to the Fiero is... it seems to me that the Fiero is a much different animal. At least with the cars I've owned (70s cars, 90s Pontiacs, 2000+ Fords, Volkswagens), the carpeting in the Fiero seems exceptionally more durable... and substantially thicker than anything I've seen in any other car. It's probably just me, but I would question whether or not you're going to get something that's similar to a stock Fiero's carpet, or something that's more similar to what all the aftermarkets are offering for all the other cars out there... cut pile / glue backed... and relatively thin. To me, the Fiero carpet (last I remember) seemed to be loop carpet with a heavy / thick rubber backing, and then squares of jute padding attached in various places.
Larry, Phat... can you concur that the carpets from ACC are the same or better quality than what's stock in the Fiero?
Like I said before, I've never seen another car that I've worked on that had carpets like the Fiero... just curious if they were able to match the quality and thickness of the backing.
Can’t recall seeing the type of loop or pattern the Fiero has but the ones I’ve bought were good quality…seemed rugged enough. For my 78 Firebird it was as good as factory..
I bought the Essex plush carpet with the Mass backing. It is very good quality, much better than the carpet that was in my car. It has held up for 6 years and 12,000 miles so far, still looks great.
The carpet you posted is cut pile. It's not the same texture, color, or even as heavy duty as Fiero. When they mold it, sections will get thin in corners. I purchased a loop style similar to Fiero, but different color. The loops wear/pill up badly so you definitely need to use a good set of mats. A friend picked up the cut pile and said it was just very thin and felt cheap. I only drive my car to Fiero events, so very limited use and the loops show a lot of wear.
Does this carpet work? Yes. Will it look nice when new and placed over existing carpet? Yes. Is it better quality? No . Not at all.
