I’ve been away for over a decade and the forum looks the same but with changes. Why does GFC only go back to one and a half pages of topics?
I’m looking to get a GT in the next few months but my main concern is getting a set of tail lights that aren’t $2000+. Are we SOL on getting a set that aren’t at scalper prices?
So tell us, what are you looking for? A get in and drive across country one? A project? Stick or auto? Stock? Red? White? Silver? Yellow? Hardtop? Top? So many choices!!!!!!

I am looking for really, a 87 GT. Blown motor is fine. Junk trans is fine. Plans are to swap those out. Stick, of course. If the drivetrain is good then so be it, I will just drive it while I source out a LS4 and F23/F40. Good tail lights is a big one. Decent glass, no defroster as we know it’s not needed. Performance sound would be good. Med metallic red like my last one would be nice. Didn’t know yellow was an option. Only seen a few yellow ones on here but those are way modded. Unless you mean gold. My first notchie was gold. Sunroof, but if not I’m sure a sunroof can easily be adapted since the frame already has the hole in it.
If I find a 87 GT med metallic red 5spd w/ a sc3 in it and Corsa exhaust then I will have to jump all over that since that is my old Fiero. But I know I will never see that car again. It’s probably sitting in some meth heads back yard in Oklahoma. Or it was wrapped around a pole/tree.
An 88 is like, to me, a 67 bug. One year only and harder to find some parts for. Unless I can be convinced otherwise, 87 GT or a 86 with the right parts upgraded to a 87.
Gotcha. Just trying to identify what you need. All my Fieros are 88s. I can take a look around my area for 87s in reasonable condition with or without motors. They come up occasionally. Any budget you are working with?

Thank you. I’m not ready to get a gt just yet, maybe in the coming months. So I don’t really have a budget set in mind yet but I’m thinking in the $3000-5000 range. I have too many other projects right now. But for now I am interested in a set of tail lights. I sent you a PM.
Are you the guy who sold his GT and bought the Ferrari 348 which was then rear ended in traffic? If so, I remember your Fiero and yeah, it was a beauty.
The taillights are still out there... but this is something odd that I noticed... maybe it's just me. I got out of the car hobby in 2011 (for the most part). At the time, 1980s cars were abound in every junkyard. There was a plethora of Porsche 944s and Fieros, and even Fiat X-1/9 Bertones all throughout the South Florida junkyards. At no point did I think much about it. But I recently got back into the hobby last year, and... 11 years later, I'm finding a LOT has changed. It used to be I never worried about parts... I knew I'd be able to get whatever I wanted, whenever I needed it. I look on eBay, and even many of the Fiero specialty shops... and things either no longer exist, or the prices are astronomical.
I just bought a set of mint 84-88 notchback taillights from Larry Hubert for $250. They were in fantastic shape... and $250 is a steal of a price for these taillights... but I remember a time some 10 years ago where I could get a set for $20 bucks from the local U-Pull-It. I remember in the early 2000s throwing some away in my recycling bin because I didn't need spares anymore ... and all of them were better than what I just replaced from my daughter's car (the ones from Larry are pristine).
I remember 25 years ago, I bought the Holley branded side scoop for $21 bucks from the Fiero Store. I was just a kid... could barely afford anything... and in order to pay rent, I sold it for $120 on eBay. But it was then in my own little youthful reality that I came to realize that nothing lasts forever. If there are parts you need / want... and this is actually important to you... buy the parts now while you can.
(sneaks over to Rodney Dickman's site to see if there's anything I need to order before he retires)

Recorded music is another easy example…. In the 70’s, everyone listened on ‘common’ records (a.k.a. LP’s or albums) which were roughly $7 each new. In the 90’s, you cannot give these records away for free; I remember buying used records ~25-cents each. Now, look at the used ‘vinyl’ prices - they're “astronomical”! So, as 82-T/A said; "buy the (Fiero) parts now while you can."
So - next year is coming fast and be aware that Rodney's goodies possibly be in a storage unit.........
Ugh, I just took my own advice... I went through his site and bought pretty much everything I know that I'm going to need in the next few years. ~$600.
I saw "the writing on the wall" so I started early this year, and over around ten months, I've spent nearly $1k at Rodney's alone......

Well, one BIG reason recently in the good Ol' U.S.A. is INFLATION and obviously, inflation increase costs for 'everything' and erodes a consumer's purchasing power!
The cumulative inflation for the entire decade from 2010 to 2020 averaged 1.7%. But it skyrocketed in 2021 at 6.8% (the largest increase in 39 years) , then 2022 had approximately 8%, and 2023 started at ~6% and it has finally been dropping.
I found a NOS GM 16504929 and 16504930 pair a few months ago with the original factory film on the lens at only $800. So 'deals' are still around (but not on eBay) and I believe your best bet is our PFF members IF they want to sell their extra Fiero spares at a lower price than the 'scalpers'......

I keep checking back at Rodney's to see if there's anything I've forgotten and some of the other sites. My daughter and I found a really cool guy that lives near us that has a hoard of Fiero parts, so she made a video about that which we'll post probably next week or so. But I bought a bunch of things from him.
