What was the earliest year the auxiliary gauges were offered, other than the Indy?
I have a brown dash, instrument pod, and shift surround that I recall removing from an 84 Fiero. Its an 85MPH speedo and the pod has black switches.
Today, while cleaning and rearranging my storage unit, I noticed that the dash has provisions for the auxiliary gauge pod and even has the harness present and protruding through the slot. At best, I believe the gauges were first offered in the 86 model year. Did the 84SE have the gauges as an option? The car had the sheepskin seat covers, too.
I've owned 2 original 85GTs and have seen a few, but none had the center gauges. I don't remember this one having the gauge present. I didn't get it but there was another with me that may have gotten it. He had an 86GT with tan interior.
I used to stalk the dealerships back in the day. The first Fiero to have the center aux gauges was the 86 2M6/SE. The 4 cylinder SE did not have them. My 85 GT, purchased new, did not have them. It did, however, have an oil pressure gauge in the tach.
I forgot that the 2m6 came before the GT. Maybe my dash isn't from an 84. I'm going to remove the ductwork and map pocket to clean it. Maybe there's some identifiers that are hidden. The sticker on the ductwork is unreadable.
Then the car we stripped must have had an 86 dash transposed into it. It does have the cloth backing and Fiero logo in the dash pocket. As I recall, the 84's had an elastic strap map holder in the dash pocket.

Depends which model and options, my 84 SE has the map pocket in the dash, and on the doors (power windows). I also added the aux gauge pod to my car after upgrading to the GT 120MPH speedometer cluster. The 84 cluster has a volt gauge below the tach, 85+ had an oil pressure gauge below the tach, and when the 120 MPH cluster was introduced the tach didn't have a gauge built into it, they moved the oil pressure to the center cluster and added the volt gauge that had been absent since '85.
I did a write-up a long time ago on adding the aux cluster to an 84, there's another one somewhere somebody did on adding it to an 85.
Today, I removed the ductwork and the map pocket from the dash and it appears that this is an OEM 1984 brown/tan dash with a factory cutout for the auxiliary gauge wiring harness. On the back side of the dash behind where the map pocket is located, and hidden by the duct work is a casting that says says1984 Fiero Base. I will download, resize and post pictures later this evening.
I also have some other gold tone trim pieces that came in the saddle tan interiors. I'll let all this go for $225 within a reasonable drive of Atlanta or Athens, Ga. Will not separate. Cannot ship.
The only damage to the dash are the two small cracks at the corners of the defroster grill, a few light rust spots on the grill, and some fading of the light tan on the corner vents.

It says that the Auxiliary gauge cluster above the center console was put on all V6 models starting in 1986. If this is in error, then I am reading the book incorrectly.
RWDPLZ, did your 84SE dash already have the cutout for the auxiliary gauge harness? This dash definitely came from an SE based on the sheepswool seats.

This one is definitely factory. You can see where it's reinforced around the cutout with what looks like some kind of film as is used elsewhere. Maybe it was part of their prototyping. It's likely that the 86 was already in the works. I'm trying to contact my friend who was with me to see if he got a center cluster from the car.
Edited: He said he didn't get a cluster from the car, so I don't really know what this dash was doing in the car. It's been many years ago so maybe the cluster was already gone with the radio surround.
Can anyone provide any further info by the part number in my picture?
