Yes this was tested back in the day. the big thing was 4WS in the Prelude and Nissan. It was more gimmick at the time and just made things much more complex. The gains were just not enough to be with the weight and cost.

Yes Chevy had it on a truck for a short time. It cut load capacity and was expensive. They killed it with poor sales. It did drive nice.

With the coming EV cars we will see more 4WS and crab walking vehicles. It is very easy to do with steer by wire on EV drivetrains.

One of my mates parents had Honda and gave it to my mate when he got his licence and rode around in it the only real advantage was reverse parking.
