For those interested, the youtube channel "Practical Engineering" has just released a breakdown of the Edenville and Sanford dam failures. This caused the flooding of Sanford, Mi, and the Fieros Forever shop/museum.

What Really Happened At Edenville and Sanford Dams?.

That is a well-presented review of the report. It is sad that all these people lost so much because of stupid arguments....All of the old dams need to be examined for safety and then repaired and/or improved.

The Oroville dam; The IDIOTS had an emergency spillway that had a concrete LIP, but below that it was just dirt! As soon as the water started to flow across it they had extreme erosion....I am no engineer, but I would like to slap the Damn engineers in the face and say "Dumb-azzes....Did you really think that DIRT would not ERODE?"

Check out the collapse of the Teton Dam up in Idaho....They used LOESS as the "Non-Permeable" layer (Context; Earthen dams use a NON-permeable layer (Or wall) internally- usually made up of some form of CLAY...Loess is erosion DUST from Glaciers- it is NOT impermeable!)
